  Wollumbin High School was established in 1995. The school enjoys a reputation within the community for student welfare, an excellent dress code and a learning culture with a core belief that everyone learns and that learning how to learn is essential to prepare students for a changing future. Teaching and learning are the keys to the school's culture. This is affirmed by our school mission and supported by the school motto 'Together We Learn'.

  Student success in all areas of learning is monitored through their ability to achieve in a standardised set of school exit outcomes which drive the school culture. Assessment and reporting of learning is based on the ability of students to meet explicit syllabus outcomes. Wollumbin High School offers a broad curriculum and has a strong technology base. It has developed a middle school program which allows a smooth transition for students from primary to secondary school providing some continuity and cohesion for the learning process.

  Whole school focus on  sustained writing -persuasive texts in year 7 & 8

  Develop explicit scope and sequence identifying literacy skills development stage 2 (primary school) to stage 6 (seniors)

  Improve NAPLAN  exam technique for years 7, 8 & 9 to reduce the number of non attempts at questions

  Reading  Focus: to increase the amount of inferential questioning in classrooms

  Spelling and vocabulary exercises implemented weekly through mentoring

  Staff professional learning

  Maintain the focus on mental arithmetic for years 7 - 10 in Maths

  Explicit focus on the teaching of problem solving for years 7, 8 and 9.

  Beginning of all lessons, a NAPLAN style problem solving/critical thinking question will be posed for year 7 to 9

  Improve NAPLAN  exam technique for years 7, 8 & 9 to reduce the number of non attempts at questions

  Focus on numeracy significance through Quality Teaching in KLAs

  Refocus on numeracy continuum from primary to secondary - on problem solving

  Embed Quicksmart program  in years 8, 9 & 10 for identified students
